Wedding Planning Tips: Creating a vision board for your Boston wedding
Ask any bride-to-be or former bride - wedding planning can feel like a full-time job sometimes. There are so many moving pieces when it comes to logistics that the design aspect can fall to the wayside. While we highly recommend outsourcing some of the stress to a wedding planner, all couples can benefit from one simple exercise at the beginning of their wedding planning: creating a vision board.
What’s a Vision Board?
Think of your vision board, or a mood board, as a high level view of what you’d like your day to look like. You can incorporate color schemes, floral arrangements, place settings and even fonts you might like for your stationary. The important thing to remember is that these are not set in stone, they are just capturing the vibe and feeling that you want to channel for your event. If you are employing a wedding planner, a vision board can help communicate your wants to your planner and ensure that you are on the same page. It serves as a reference to go back to when selecting things like decor and linens or even your dress.
How do I make one?
We recommend using a tool like Canva or even Powerpoint to aggregate the inspiration photos you have been collecting since (or even before) you got engaged. Try to group photos together and see which ones resonate with you. Perhaps you thought you wanted a more modern wedding, but traditional florals and romantic gowns are speaking to you. That’s okay! The point of the vision board is to help you see which way you are leaning and can help your planner identify places where your budget allows you to indulge in certain trends. Beyond just your wedding planner, you can also share this board with the rest of your wedding vendors. It may help your DJ think of creative uplighting or inspire a new design for your wedding cake.
We’ve compiled some of our favorite vision boards for the upcoming wedding season below. We hope these inspire you and happy planning!
